Thirty years of research and 100 years of practice proves beyond dispute that parent involvement in school increases student success.  We urge all parents, grandparents, and others interested in the welfare of children to get involved and volunteer in any of the areas listed below.  Whether you are able to help a little or a lot, volunteers provide a valuable service to our great school.  We need you!!

A volunteer sign-in book is located on the PTSA worktable in the Workroom/Teacher’s Lounge.  Volunteers should sign the book and record their volunteer hours.   Once a month, the number of volunteers and hours worked are tabulated and a report form is submitted to the St. Tammany Parish School Board.

Please click and download the form at the right. Complete form and return to Clearwood as soon as possible. PDF

Volunteers are needed to set up tables prior to the event, order 3 cakes, purchase soft drinks and necessary paper products, slice cakes and pour drinks, and clean up (throw everything away) after the event.

PTSA Game Night

Game Night is for the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. These events are usually held at least once a semester.  The events usually begin at 6:30 and last until 9:00 PM.  Students are able to play board games, dance, eat, play games in the gym, and just visit with their friends for the evening.  Volunteers are needed for set up and clean up, to supervise activities, work the food table, sell candy, work the ticket booth/sign-in/out, recruite volunteers, and co-chair the event with Mrs. LaCoste.

PTSA Newsletter

Clearwood PTSA is GOING GREEN!!! We issue a Newsletter usually twice a semester.  Articles are provided usually by the board members and compiled by one person.  That person will email the newsletter for review to the President & Mr. Bennett.  The newsletter will then be posted to our website for review.  There will be a note on the monthly "News Flash" when this is done. We will also have an archive of past newsletters in case you are in need of them or missed one.

Skate & Bowling Nights

Skate Night is usually held at least once a semester from 6:30-8:00PM.  Bowling Nights may be held as often as once per month on Fridays from 4:30-6:30 PM.    The events usually begin at 6:30 and last until 9:00 PM.  Volunteers are needed for each of these events to chaperone the kids and work the doors (student sign-in/out).  For Skate Night, an overall coordinator is needed to work with the Skating Rink.

PTSA Staff Appreciation

Clearwood PTSA annually expresses appreciation for our teachers and staff during National Teacher Appreciation Week.
Each day during the week-long event, the PTSA recognizes Clearwood’s staff.  Staff Appreciation is held, usually, the second week of May.  Planning usually begins in March.  Committee meetings are usually held every 3-4 weeks depending on need.  Some of the past recognition included breakfasts, luncheons, dessert days, raffles, and token appreciation gifts.  Volunteers are needed throughout the week to donate food and/or raffle items, assist with serving, and setup and cleanup.  Volunteers are needed during the planning stages to choose and order a gift, sort and distribute gifts to staff, recruit volunteers, plan the overall week, coordinate decorations and invitations.

DAD’S CLUB

The Dad’s Club had ten new volunteers sign up to help this year at Open House.  Our first big project will be putting down $5000 worth of landscape timbers and mulch made available through a Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant received by the PTSA.  The material will be delivered to the school, but we will need everyone’s help in putting it in place.    A work day will be scheduled on a Saturday after the weather cools off in late October or early November.

Also, the Dad’s Club will be running the concession stand at Cougar Fest in the spring.  We will be calling on volunteers to help barbeque hamburgers and hot dogs and help sell sodas, candy, and snacks.

The Dad’s Club may also be calling on volunteers to help hang projector screens in classrooms and supervise gym activities on Game Nights.

Contact Chris Pericone @ 640-0620 or at pericone@bellsouth.net  if you are willing to help with any of these projects.
